A basic diskussion about many storys I think. Also in the story of the Warriors is much black and white painting how I think. The famous hero Firestar fight for the good site while the bad, bad Tigerstar going to kill every cat on earth - it has a little bit from Star Wars, hasn´t it?^^
I think all plans sold to us as evil has good sides, too. Why do you think Tigerstar will kill single cats? Cause he think it´s best for the forest. He thinks with him as leader the forest will have better. That thats maybe a delusion was once an open question but it´s not all evil about these "bad" characters. Tigerstar had a very bad childhood with a aggressive mentor an a treacherous father. It´s not excuse for his doings but at least a declaration for his way of thinking.
Another example: Hawkfrost is a very good warrior but from birth on he must proov that he is as good as all clanborn cats. But he is a militant tom what makes him at least to one of the best warriors of the Clan. But really Recognition he don´t earns. His mother is not there so it´s normal that he is aimed at his brother and his father. He trusts Tigerstar and shares his plans, so thats it.
Also Mudclaw is not that cat how we maybe think he is. The authors admit that by themselves in their describtion of him in the Field Guide "Cats of the Clans". Original quote:
So I ask you: Are there very "good" and "bad" cats or is even Firestar not the hero or Tigerstar not the evil as they sold to us?

Would Mudclaw have mud such a dreadful leader? Yes, he was ambitious - but his ambition was to become Leader of his Clan, and no cat can doubt that he would have surrendered all his lives to defending his Clanmates and the Clan´s borders.
So I ask you: Are there very "good" and "bad" cats or is even Firestar not the hero or Tigerstar not the evil as they sold to us?
