This is about Mudclaw becoming Mudstar, obviously.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1[/u]
Tallstar lay in the gorse bushes, slowly dying. With him were Firestar, Brambleclaw, and Mudclaw. Tallstar's breath was beginning to become faster, and it was hard for him to speak.
Tallstar stretched up slightly. "Firestar, I must thank you. You have saved my Clan. And Brambleclaw...Graystripe, may he walk with StarClan, would agree that you would make a great deputy one day."
Brambleclaw gasped, and Firestar stiffened beside him with the words.
"Before I leave my life forever..." he gasped. "I have to say... Mudclaw..."
The mottled WindClan warrior leaned forward. "Lead us well Mudclaw. ThunderClan were always our friends, and I expect you to keep that friendship lasting for many moons to come." Tallstar purred.
Mudclaw dipped his head. "You have my word, Tallstar. WindClan will be safe with me."
Tallstar nodded, then his chest heaved as he gasped for breath. The old cat was making his journey to StarClan now. His breath was slowing down, until it stopped, and his eyes were glazed over with death.
Firestar bowed his head in regret, and Brambleclaw raised his head to StarClan.
Only one cat wasn't sad. He walked out, pretending to sulk, but his eyes were shining with triumph.
"The Clan is mine now." he murmured softly so no cat would hear. "I can do as I please with it, and no cat would dare to stand in the way of me."
Chapter 2[/u]
"Let the cats of all Clans gather for a meeting!" Mudclaw's voice rang out through the chatter of the cats.
He spotted Dustpelt of ThunderClan muttering to his mate about something, and Littlecloud, the ShadowClan medicine cat was looking uneasy. They're afraid of me? Good. That will mean less invaders and more territory.
"Cats of the Clans, I have some sad news to tell you." he yowled. "Tallstar has gone to hunt with StarClan."
The cats gasped, then bowed their heads in silent vigil.
"As soon as possible, I will have my nine lives and I will take the name Mudstar, but for now!" Mudclaw continued. "I will choose a cat to become deputy!"
"I say these words before Tallstar, and hope that the spirits of my ancestors may hear and approve my choice."
Mudclaw thought a few heartbeats before continuing.
"The new deputy will be Ashfoot."
Yowls of approval came from around the Clans. Clearly Ashfoot was a popular choice, for she was Crowfeather's mother.
The new WindClan deputy dipped her head to the WindClan leader. "Thank you for this position. I never expected that it would happen, but I will serve WindClan well until the last breath in my body."
Mudclaw dipped his head at the strong words. "Now we must sit vigil for Tallstar. We will soon break up into Clans again and head into the forest."
No. WindClan's forest. Mudclaw thought with a sneer on his lip. Maybe not now, but one day WindClan will be the strongest Clan ever.
Chapter 3
Finally, it was the day that the Clans made their way into the new territory. Mudclaw was gathering the cats of WindClan to get ready to travel, Blackstar was grouping ShadowClan, Leapordstar was preparing RiverClan, and Firestar was getting the last of ThunderClan prepared.
"Time to leave!" Blackstar yowled to the Clans. "Time to make our way into the new territory!" Several cats yowled in approval and began to move with their leader and the chosen cats leading the way.
"Come on, WindClan! We don't want those other filthy cats leaving us behind!" Mudclaw yowled. He then started to lead the way, unaware of the other cats staring at him with shock and disgust in their eyes. No one seemed to enjoy the fact that Mudclaw was now WindClan's leader. But the WindClan leader didn't care. As long as his cats respected him and listened to his word, the other Clans could stare at him all they wanted.
They safely made it across the moor, thanks to their stealth and speed, they were far ahead of the other cats. Before Firestar headed for ThunderClan territory he yowled “May StarClan light your path Mudstar!”
“Yours too!” he yowled back. But not in the way he thinks thought Mudclaw.
The new WindClan leader would definently allow StarClan to light his path, especially when he got his nine lives.
Mudclaw would be unstoppable.
